Dear all,
I am sure you are all following the recent events in the Middle East and North Africa. Maybe you have also realised that Obama has till now not yet pronounced the D-word: Democracy for Egyptian people. We represent academic communities and we support the promotion of human rights and people`s right to decide on their own future. This is the time to call for the ending realist foreign policies which produced repressive regimes in MENA region and Latin America at the expense of peoples` rights. Yesterday, the justification was the communist threat, today it is the war on terror. This is the right time to call state leaders for an ethical foreign policy and to stop disseminating fear and insecurity in their societies. This is the time to listen people. We cannot leave our friends in those regions on their own. If we dont support the truly democratic and secular groups, others will fill the vacuum.
